Ed & Adam Bennett had memorable results at this year’s Michigan Summer Championships 2–5 July at the Sheraton Novi: Ed won the Championship Main event and son Adam won the Consolation. 200 players attended Carol Joy Cole’s annual summer gammon festival with 181 participating in the main tournaments.

Failing to draw a bye in the 95 player Champ field meant that Ed, a 73-year-old retired commercial banker from New Mexico, needed seven 11-point victories in a row to win the undefeated bracket. This included an exciting seventh match against the always-tough Ray Glaeser (OH) .
